Fringes often come back into fashion and they can be very flattering too. Not only do they hide less than forgiving fine lines that we tend to acquire as we get older, they also help to frame our faces and emphasis our best facial features. Fringes of course can vary in length. You might choose to opt for a standard short fringe or a curtain fringe that is slightly longer in length. My obsession with fringes began just before Halloween when I was considering my outfit for the evening. I initially wanted to be Cleopatra. Therefore I needed a fringe, so I decided to cut my own fringe a few days before. After some careful research and expert tips, these are the 4 simple steps I took:

Step 1: Comb your hair. Then gather the amount of hair that you would like to cut into a fringe. I recommend parting your hair in this kind of triangular parting so that your fringe sits evenly.
Step 2: Cut your fringe to the desired length.
Step 3: To blend your new fringe in with the rest of your hair, cut the 1-2 cm of your hair next to your fringe diagonally. This will give a graduated look to the hair either side of your fringe and will blend in nicely with the rest of your hair, no matter the length.
Step 4: (optional) to create a choppy, less blunt look, make little cuts upwards at the bottom of your fringe.
And there you have a quick and stylish DIY fringe.

In the end, I didn't dress up as Cleopatra because I didn't have time to apply all of her amazing but heavy make-up. So instead I opted for a cat look which was much faster and equally as cool! Do let me know if you try this tutorial and don't forget to tag me in your pictures over on Instagram
