Watches are not only a functional device; they’re also a stylish fashion accessory! I love watches! If I’m in a rush to leave the house, I often find that a watch is my go-to accessory. Watches help to add the finishing touches to an outfit and make my appearance look well put together. Although I adore all types of jewellery, it’s easy to overpower your appearance with earrings and necklaces but that’s never the case with watches.
Don’t get me wrong, on an average day you will see me wearing a stack of rings, a pair of earrings and maybe even a necklace but strangely enough, I have never been a fan of bracelets. In the years leading up to discovering Nordgreen, I had accumulated about six watches of different styles and sizes. This was a great idea initially because it meant that I had the perfect watch for every occasion and to match every outfit. However, this soon proved quite frustrating. I constantly found myself having to replace the batteries in each of the watches so that they were working for when I wanted to wear them. I have now streamlined my watch collection. I now have just two watch faces from Nordgreen – in gold and silver, and I have straps in gold, silver and black. Now I have just two watch batteries to change and I can switch up my watch style as much as I like thanks to the versatility of the extensive range of interchangeable straps.
Nordgreen began in 2017 by its two founders – Pascar Sivam and Vasilij Brandt. Their aim was to create a stylish brand which incorporated sustainable practices in order to produce a functional collection of designer timepieces. Nordgreen envisioned its collection with award-winning Chief Designer Jakob Wagner, who earned his acclaim by designing for Bang & Olufsen, Hay, B&B Italia, and Cappellini to name a few.
Nordgreen watches are made from ethical materials. They even offer vegan leather straps and it's the most beautifully soft leather I've ever come across! The product packaging is FSC certified and the felt inside the boxes is made from upcycled plastic bottles. Their watch faces are made from mineral glass and their straps are made from stainless steel, canvas, leather or vegan leather. All watches sold by Nordgreen have interchangeable straps too, so you can enjoy multiple styles with just one watch face.
The batteries in these watches are simply amazing! I have owned watches with impressive battery lives in the past but they were nothing like these. My oldest Nordgreen watch is about 18 months old and the battery life is still going strong. Obviously you have to be mindful of external factors, such as weather conditions and sun exposure, as these can significantly reduce battery life. Generally, the batteries installed in Nordgreen watches are said to last up to 2-3 years on average.
