My Top 3 Bucket List Destinations

The idea of travel seems like an extravagant dream at the moment, what with us all being in lockdown. However, I thought it would be fun to share my top 3 bucket list destinations with you. Travel and cultural experiences are very important to me and I believe that they play a crucial part in our lives. I’ve learned so much from the travel and cultural experiences I’ve enjoyed so far and look forward to uncovering more fun and skills through my future travel plans.
My Top 3 Bucket List Destinations
Originally from the UK, I’ve spent a huge proportion of my life travelling and living abroad. There’s a quote about travel being one of the best personal investments you can make and I couldn't agree more! I recently read an article by a travel blogger who says that there is a difference between travelling and being a tourist. This is so true! Yes, you can go on holiday and enjoy a well deserved break away from normal life, but being a traveller is entirely different. Travelling involves staying in accommodation that finds you on your travels rather than you hand-picking the destination based on its available hotels and facilities. When you travel, you consume local dishes, pick up essential phrases in the native lingo, and immerse yourself in a new culture. Having experienced life as a tourist and having travelled, I recommend seeing both ends of the spectrum. A holiday affords you your home luxuries and comfortable accommodation in a scenic location. Travelling provides you with skills and abilities that you cannot learn elsewhere. If you're looking for an easier way to get from one country to the next, Jettly offers a private jet charter service to make travelling more convenient.

My Top 3 Bucket List Destinations

As things currently stand, I think it’s safe to say that my life travelling has far exceeded the amount of so-called holidays I have taken in my life. I’m sure my top 3 bucket list travel destinations will change again in a couple of years, but at the moment I’m more interested in seeing the famous landmarks and sights best associated with certain locations.

Las Vegas

I am by no means a gambling person, but Las Vegas is one of those places that looks so exciting that you just have to visit! Las Vegas is well known for its casinos and popular poker games but from what friends have told me, it isn’t all casinos and parties, there are shows, universal entertainment and so many amazing attractions to enjoy! As somebody who is also more of a night owl than an early morning person – other than when I took on the challenge to wakeup at 4am every morning, I find Las Vegas’s 24/7 lifestyle very appealing! As much as I enjoy simplicity, it’s spectacularly surreal to visit a place like nowhere else on the planet.

Africa

My idea of a trip to Africa would involve going back to basics and reconnecting with nature. Hair tied up throughout the duration of the trip and swapping my makeup bag and glamour for practical safari gear and a water flask. The main pull for me here is to catch a glimpse of some of Africa’s amazing wildlife in their own natural habitats – of course, under circumstances and from a distance that is safe for both the animals and I. I’ve long been a supporter of the Born Free Foundation and the WWF Foundation, and I would love to get involved in similar work on a hands-on basis. Personally, I don’t think that any human has the automatic right to see wild animals in their natural habitats if it in any way endangers or disrupts the lives of the animals. But in an ideal world, if it was possible to do so, this would be my dream expedition!

New York

I grew up watching films and TV shows based in New York. I fell in love with the idea of New York through watching a bleary-eyed Holly stare into the shop window of Tiffany’s on Fifth Avenue and felt the enormity of the city the first Christmas I ever watched Home Alone 2 – and every Christmas after that! Coming from England, where our cities and landmarks are world famous because of the country’s long history, I find it interesting how the USA has a much shorter history but with equally as many must-see places of interest. I think it’s largely to do with film and media and the way in which a single destination can connect the world and feel like home before you’ve even visited, all because of the impact of a well loved film or TV show.

For the record, there are many more places I’d love to see, but these are the top 3 destinations I’d most like to visit. My choice of destinations is probably also owing to the fact that I’ve lived in quite rural destinations for the last 10 years. I’ve noticed that my choice of ideal travel spots strongly depends upon the type of place where I'm living at a particular time. When I’ve lived in busy areas, my dream destinations have been low-key and tranquil. Now that I’ve spent a lot of time living in underpopulated areas, I find it refreshing to travel to busier locations.
