Is Instagram the Right Social Media Platform for You?
Before I jump into my review of this course, allow me to explain a little more about Instagram and why it could be the platform for you and your business. I used to often ask the question: “Which social media platform is best?” in the hope that there was a cut and dry answer to cure my indecisiveness. Some might suggest that you choose the platform where your target audience spends most of their time. But let’s be honest, unless your target audience is very specific, there’s a high chance that your ideal client will be on more than one social media network. The best piece of advice I would give you is the same piece of advice that really resonated with me: the best social media platform for you is the one you can use and enjoy using! It’s recommended that you focus on one, or a maximum of two social media platforms as a business owner. By focusing your time and energy on just 1-2 platforms, you’ll have a better chance of reaching your target audience and growing your brand in a shorter space of time, compared to spreading yourself too thin across multiple social media channels and not doing any of them well. I chose to focus on Instagram because I love it! There is nothing I like better than to get lost on Instagram, exploring wonderful photography, spontaneous snaps and making new connections. Telling stories through pictures is something I can really get on board with! But again, if it’s not for you then you might want to consider trying another platform.
Instagram is a photo sharing social media app. It’s used by both individuals and business owners, charitable organisations and now - even royalty! At the time of writing this, Instagram is perhaps where I have the lowest number of followers. I’ve always focused on gaining regular traffic to my website rather than worrying too much about social media. However, Instagram is one of my best social media platforms for providing me with work and networking opportunities. Partly due to the fact that it’s where my target audience hangs out, I owe many brand collaborations and blogger friendships to Instagram! More important than a large following is a high conversion rate - which is why Instagram works so well for me. If you’re not marketing to the right people, it doesn’t matter how many followers you have - getting them to take action will be difficult.
What Do You Learn in the IIEPD Instagram Course?

Once you log on to access this online training course, the dashboard is really easy to navigate. From here you can access all of the modules in the course and start them in any order you choose - although it is recommended that you start at the beginning. The course dashboard shows your progress and where you left off the last time you accessed the course contents, making it easy for you to continue. Each lesson combines video content, a text summary and downloadable worksheet to print off. The majority of this course is made up of advice, tips and input from experienced Instagrammers who have tried this strategy and for whom it had worked. When studying something new, I like to know that the information I’m learning is correct and professional, but it’s also really helpful to hear from those who have been there and done it! You get both in this course, which is something I really enjoyed. The influencers that feature throughout this course are from a variety of industries. Throughout the course they share their real life experiences on different topics related to Instagram.
Overall, I really enjoyed this course. Each lesson is short and concise but with many bite size lessons to get through. This is very convenient for those who don’t have the time to commit to hours of study time per day or per week. This course is incredibly in-depth and I’m sure that it will provide you with a positive learning experience and an improved Instagram account!
