4 Organic Skincare Saviours from Balmonds

4 Organic Skincare Saviours from Balmonds

As a Clean Beauty Judge and blogger, I’ve tried many organic beauty products over the last few years. Some have been amazing, whereas others wouldn’t convince you to make the switch over to organic beauty. I’ve been using Balmonds' products for about a year now and I’ve been lucky enough to try a number of items from their range. These 4 organic skincare saviours from Balmonds are among my absolute favourite skincare products!

Organic skincare has become a hot topic over the last few years and it has prompted much curiosity. Why is it important? What are the benefits of switching over to natural beauty? And most importantly, what is organic skincare exactly? Simply put, organic skincare refers to products that don’t contain the harmful chemicals that are commonly found in mainstream cosmetics.
One of my favourite natural skincare brands is Balmonds. Balmonds’ products are 100% natural and offer head-to-toe skincare for the entire family. Not only does this brand tick all the boxes in terms of being organic and natural, but some of the products in their line are fantastic ‘clean beauty’ swaps for certain high-end, luxury cosmetics I’ve tried.

The Story of How Balmonds Began

The story of how Balmonds began is very sweet. I love hearing about how brands started out because I feel that it gives you a better insight into the brand’s true values. Balmonds was founded by Natalie Balmond, who was desperate to find an effective treatment for her daughter’s dry and itchy skin. Lula tried everything from prescribed to alternative moisturisers but they only made her sensitive skin worse. In the end, Natalie started to create her own creams from her kitchen. She turned to traditional ingredients for inspiration, such as hemp, nettle, chamomile, calendula, safflower and olive oil then added them to beeswax to make a soothing balm. The salve she eventually created was entirely natural and gentle on skin, made from all natural, nonharmful ingredients.
The salve was perfect for hydrating and nourishing Lula’s dry, easily irritated skin. Not only did Lula enjoy using it, many of Natalie’s friends and family also fell in love with the product, which prompted her to start a company to make her beloved product widely available. Balmonds is now an award-winning natural skincare brand that offers a wide range of products with Natalie’s original creation - Skin Salvation, still at its heart!

Skin Salvation

Skin Salvation is Balmonds’ hero product and the company’s first creation. It’s a rich, natural and effective moisturising ointment that can be used on all skin types. Its main purposes are to hydrate, nourish and protect dry or sensitive skin. Skin Salvation is one of Balmonds’ most popular products because it’s multifunctional.
This naturally-formulated balm can even be used on babies from 6 weeks old. Examples like these highlight the advantages of using organic cosmetics over mainstream alternatives. Although each product varies, organic skincare is typically more gentle on skin so it can be used by all the family. If you’re looking to try out some of Balmonds’ skincare but are not sure what to choose, Skin Salvation is a good starting point. Skin Salvation can be used in many different ways, such as:
  • To soften rough or cracked skin on hands and feet
  • As a regular skin moisturiser
  • As a semi-occlusive barrier, protecting skin from external irritants
  • To protect new tattoos as they heal
  • Moisturise dry eyes
  • Soothe and moisturise sore noses
  • Remove makeup
  • Protect against chafing

Intensive Facial Oil

This facial oil has become a fixed feature in my nightly skincare routine. I apply it every night before going to bed and in the morning I wake with my skin looking plump and refreshed. The oil contains rosehip and lavender and is rich in Omega 3 & 6, as well as vitamin A & C. It’s perfect for delicate or ageing skin and is ideal for softening blemishing and wrinkles and for evening out uneven skin tones or discolouration. Although you can use it at anytime, it’s best applied at night to rejuvenate your skin at the end of the day.
Not everybody likes the idea of using facial oils because they believe they’re too heavy and oily for everyday wear. I have combination skin and I absolutely love facial oils! You can control how much you apply and they absorb quickly into your skin so that they don’t leave your skin feeling sticky. The first facial oil that I ever tried was Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum and I’ve been using them ever since.
Up until I discovered Balmonds’ Intensive Facial Oil, nothing I tried compared to the quality and effectiveness of Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair. If you’ve ever tried Estee Lauder’s bestselling facial serum then you’ll know that it’s a tough product to beat. Balmonds’ Intensive Facial Oil is an excellent match in terms of quality and results. In addition, Balmonds’ facial oil is also cruelty-free, vegan, natural and organic!

Omega-Rich Cleaning Oil

Since I’ve been using natural skincare products, I’ve found wearing oils a lot less intimidating. I think it’s because organic oil-based products don’t contain any harmful or unfamiliar ingredients, which make them more comfortable to use. Pure oils tend not to feel as sticky and greasy as non-organic products which contain a whole list of ingredients. Due to the fact it’s a natural cleanser, it doesn’t clog your pores. Balmonds’ Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil is suitable for everyday use to cleanse, condition and moisturise your skin.
I use it to remove makeup and it works very well! Generally I tend to wear makeup on a daily basis so I like to make sure that my nightly cleansing routine is not only effective at removing my makeup but is also as gentle as possible. Some makeup removers feel tight, as though they’re stripping your face of moisture. That’s why I love this cleaning oil by Balmonds because it successfully removes my makeup and thoroughly cleanses my skin without causing additional damage or discomfort.

Bath & Body Oil

Although I’ve only been using facial oils in more recent years, I’ve been using body oils as moisturisers for the past decade. I much prefer using body oils instead of creams and this bath and body oil is my favourite! If you're not yet using body oils then you should definitely consider it! Compared to creams they lock in more moisture, can be applied on to wet skin, added to bath water, used as a massage or shaving oil, and as a cleanser. As much as it’s important for me to have a set skincare routine, I love finding multifunctional products which serve as several products in one. It’s such a lovely product to use as well. The oil contains hemp and chamomile, which give it a beautiful, subtle fragrance.

All Balmonds’ products are cruelty-free and are free from:

  • No perfumes
  • No parabens
  • No paraffin
  • No SLS
  • No phthalates
  • No silicones
  • No phenoxyethanol
  • No PEGs
  • No mineral oil
  • No lies
All of the items mentioned in this post are also suitable for vegans, with the exception of Skin Salvation which contains beeswax.

Personally, I believe that if you’re going to get serious about looking after your skin or if you want to invest in better quality skincare, it’s important to find products that you enjoy using. These days, whether it’s my hair, makeup or skincare, I prefer to buy better products that make me want to use them. Self-care shouldn’t be a chore, which is why my advice to you is to select compatible products whose scent, texture, ethics, ingredients and results you love!
